The 20th running of the Irish St Leger was held on Thursday 20th September 1934 over 1 mile 6 furlongs of The Curragh. The winner was owned by Mr William Barnett, trained by Richard Dawson and ridden by C Ray. A purse of £2000 allowed for the second to receive 100 sovereigns and the third 50 sovereigns. The winner won by 1 1/2 lengths, with 2 lengths between second and third.

  Betting Dead heat winner of the Irish Derby along with Patriot King (SR 1928), Primero had earlier won the Irish 2000 Guineas beating Cariff (SR 1927). He finished down the field in the Epsom Derby behind the brilliant Windsor Lad (SR 2100), but got back on winning ways here by beating Cariff by a comfortable 1 1/2 lengths.
